Pillars
Shanti Mission is a philosophy of peace which rests upon the following 8
pillars. These pillars are practiced in all we do and are at the core of all that we offer.
Devotion
Devotion means love with commitment. One can experience and practice devotion to different people, causes or groups. Disciples of Shakti Durga practice devotion to Her as their Guru. We have initiates from many different traditions, and encourage devotion to the Supreme Being and
respect for all spiritual teachers and paths. Devotion is born of the heart, engenders compassion and is how
we can learn to experience the Divine within our own being. It is a pathway to self-realization and the unfolding of the miraculous in our lives.
Purification
Purification means keeping the mind and body in good condition. It is about having respect for ourselves and others. It includes clearing negative thinking and learning to prepare the mind to be used as an
instrument of conscious creation. Purification gives us greater focus, awareness, recognition of right intention,
right motivation, honesty and steadfastness to high ideals. Ignite Your Spirit therapy is a form of purification which helps us to release old limiting thoughts, stale energy, cords of connection to the past, stress, depression and anxiety. It helps us cultivate a life of ease and grace.
Responsibility, 100%
Responsibility means cultivating a non-blame paradigm. Whenever we blame others for our problems we are immediately disempowered, and needing to control or manipulate them so that we can feel safe and ok. The moment we chose to take responsibility we can find ways to make a difference. We can take responsibility for our own thoughts, words and actions, regardless of how other people may speak or behave and thus we can become empowered to experience peace. There are many levels to the cultivation of 100% responsibility which are taught in our seminars.
Meditation
Meditation
is the key to higher consciousness and we strive to practice daily so as to
facilitate ease and grace in our lives. There are many different forms of meditation and we just need to find the methods that are right for us. At Shanti Mission Harmony Centres some dynamic forms of meditation are taught that promote still mind in a way that is easy for most Western people.
Wisdom
A key for peace is the cultivation of wisdom. Within Shanti Mission people are encouraged to study,
learn and grow. Follow the heart and expand the consciousness so as to understand more of life's rich adventure. One can study wide or study deep. Studying wide means learning a little about a broad range of topics. Studying deep means sticking with one branch of knowledge for 5 to 7 years or more so as to really master it. Both of these approaches are encouraged.
Virtues – embodying all of them
Practicing
the virtues aligns us with Divine energy. We end up empowered and at peace.
Pillar 6 entails the cultivation of all the virtues, including; loving
kindness, compassion, strength, fortitude, faith, peace, truth, reliability, unity and so on.
Karma
We
are bound by the law of Karma, but we can develop grace through giving, forgiving, and serving our fellow man. Cultivating grace in this way helps us
to overcome adversity as it is a means of summoning Divine help quickly. Our service programs give people the opportunity to be involved in meaningful projects that really benefit people in practical and obvious ways. A huge raft of service projects are going to be rolled out over the next 5 years, bringing Shanti Mission philosophy to a vast range of charitable undertakings in diverse areas from healthcare, child care, education, human rights, indigenous empowerment, sustainability, new inventions, age care, animal rights, and so on. Serving as part of a volunteer team founded on our 8 pillars and giving practical assistance to other charitable bodies and the public is deeply satisfying, fulfilling and brings joy to the heart.
Multi
Faith
We recognise all faiths and wholesome spiritual philosophies as
providing valid pathways to Divine union, and understand that there are as many
pathways as there are people. We see diversity as desirable, giving people true freedom of choice. Unity can be attained within diversity of
expression, so long as there is loving respect.
